Ukraine interior minister claims airstrike destroys militia camp in Luhansk region
KYIV. May 27 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov claims that an airstrike has destroyed a camp of "armed opponents of the Kyiv authorities" in the country's eastern Luhansk region.
"A training camp of terrorists in Yaseny of the Luhansk region was destroyed as a result of an airstrike," Avakov said on his Facebook account on Tuesday.
It is not ruled out that Avakov was referring to the Yaseny tourist camp, located in the Sverdlovsk district of the Luhansk region.
Avakov did not give any further details.
Interfax has so far been unable to obtain confirmation of the report from other sources.
Reports that a camp has been destroyed have been confirmed by the presidential press service.
"A center for training terrorists, with militants who were undergoing training to conduct subversive operations in Donbas and elsewhere in Ukraine, was destroyed in the north of the Luhansk region on Tuesday morning," the presidential press service said.
However, the militia base in Sverdlovsk refuted these reports. "It is a lie," militia representatives told Interfax.
