Aeroflot replaces head of low-cost affiliate ahead of maiden flight - newspaper
MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - Aeroflot Russian Airlines has replaced the head of its low-cost subsidiary, Dobrolyot, just days after the new airline began selling tickets on its first flights.
Aeroflot began setting up the lowcoster last year. In fall, the former head of defunct Avianova, Vladimir Gorbunov, was named to lead Dobrolyot. "I believe that the Mr. Gorbunov's experience will prove useful to us, especially in the initial stage," then-Aeroflot chief Vitaly Savelyev said at the time.
The initial stage was brief: Gorbunov has been replaced, Kommersant reported on Wednesday, citing sources. The new general director is Andrei Kalmykov, who was suspended as first deputy CEO of Aeroflot last year in connection with a criminal investigation against him. Gorbunov will continue to work at Aeroflot as first deputy CEO.
Dobrolyot declined to comment on the report.
