Russia worried by reports on U.S. military assistance to Syrian opposition - Lavrov
MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - Russia is worried by reports on the possibility that the U.S. administration could provide military assistance to the Syrian insurgents, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We are worried by information that, among the measures declared [regarding the U.S.' support to Syrian opposition], there could be those such as military assistance to the opposition, the training of fighters by the American army, and also the U.S.' preparedness to lift objections against supplies of mobile anti-aircraft systems to the opposition," Lavrov said at a press conference following negotiations with Argentinean Foreign Minister Hector Timerman in commenting on reports that U.S. President Barack Obama planned to announce military assistance to the Syrian opposition on Wednesday.
