Priest accused of attacking polling stations suspended from service in Luhansk
MOSCOW. May 28 (Interfax) - The Luhansk diocese has suspended from service Archpriest Vladimir Maretsky, who is accused of attacking polling stations on May 25.
The decision to suspend the clergyman from service was made at a meeting of the diocese council headed by Archbishop of Luhansk and Alchevsk Mitrofan "until the end of the investigation into the case," the diocese press service reported.
The diocese will send inquiries to the relevant authorities asking for official documents on the investigation into this case.
The meeting participants also said it is "definitely unacceptable for clergymen to participate in any political actions, especially those involving violence and weapons, as the Holy Canons clearly say."
