Medvedev promises to ensure water supply to Crimea
MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said the Russian government will consider the issue of providing financial assistance to Crimea in an amount of 2.5 billion rubles.
"Without any doubt, the peninsula will have water. The federal center will provide all necessary financial support. For this reason, there are plans to provide the region 2.5 billion rubles now," Medvedev told the government.
Medvedev said the Cabinet of Ministers will debate a draft government decree on the matter, recalling that Ukraine has stopped supplying water to the Crimean Peninsula.
"The shortage of water is currently compensated for by using local sources. We will, of course, ensure a more reliable supply of this water," he said.
