Rogozin: Everything Russian defense needs must be made in Russia

KIROV. May 30 (Interfax) - The Russian government has set the task of complete substitution of imported military products with items manufactured by domestic defense plants, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said.

"Everything the Russian defense sector needs must be made in Russia," Rogozin said during a working trip to Kirov on Friday.

Russia cannot depend on the Ukrainian defense sector, which has appeared to be a major supplier of Russia, he continued.

Rogozin also said his trip aimed to remove bureaucratic barriers between defense plants and the government and he would hold regular meetings with Russian defense sector chiefs. "So that enterprises tell [me] without mediators where we stand and what needs to be done. Every problem should be solved operatively, immediately," the vice-premier stressed.

He also said that Russia must be rearmed at approximately 30% by 2015 and 70% by 2020.

"Russia is not going to call its sovereignty into question. It will be based on the military might of the country alongside other [factors]," Rogozin stressed.
