Moscow concerned about info on U.S. plans to enhance military assistance to Syrian opposition

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Moscow is concerned about the reports on U.S. administration plans to enhance military assistance to the Syrian opposition, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Media reports saying that the United States administration intends to enhance military assistance to 'right' insurgents in the Syrian armed opposition are very concerning. At that, many reports exist on acknowledging the facts of supplying opposition activists with lethal military-oriented products, in other words weapons, even though only assistance with non-lethal means to Bashar Assad's opponents was mentioned in Washington up until recently," the Russian Foreign Ministry posted a statement on Friday.
