Putin congratulates el-Sisi on winning Egyptian presidential election

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - In a telephone conversation on Friday Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on his convincing win in the presidential election in Egypt.

"Both sides expressed certainty that the rich traditions of friendship between Russia and Egypt will see further development in all areas," the Kremlin press office said.

"El-Sisi thanked the Russian president for his congratulations and stressed his readiness for close cooperation both on bilateral agenda and in international affairs," the statement said.

The two leaders agreed to maintain active contact and exchange high-level visits, the Kremlin press office said.
