Issue of Ukraine's withdrawal from CIS not discussed by CIS PMs - Medvedev

MINSK. May 30 (Interfax) - The issue of the possible withdrawal of Ukraine from the CIS was not discussed at the meeting of CIS prime ministers in Minsk on Friday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told reporters.

Ukraine was represented by the Ukrainian ambassador to Belarus and "he did not have significant authority," Medvedev said.

At the same time, "withdrawing from any organization is not a very good story for the country itself," he said.

"If Ukraine's withdrawal from the CIS is the price for politics, this is their right but they should consider that they will lose economy," Medvedev said.
