First debt issue should be resolved at gas talks with Ukraine - Peskov
SOCHI. June 2 (Interfax) - While discussing the gas issue with Ukraine, Russian negotiators show flexibility but it is evident that the issue of debt for the which was gas supplied be resolved, Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"In any case first the debt issue should be resolved," Peskov said.
At the same time, "one thing is evident - in this case Russian negotiators show flexibility and interest in searching for a solution," he said.
"As it is known, for now the sum, which came in the settlement of the debt, is far from covering the entire debt," Peskov said.
When asked whether the discussion of gas topics could be brought to a different level, the spokesman said that "everything should be done stage-by-stage" but first the debt issue should be resolved.
"A lot will depend on Ukraine," Peskov said.
