Luhansk border guards not ruling out new assault by militia - Ukraine border guard service
KYIV. June 3 (Interfax) - Unknown people apparently engaged in reconnaissance activities were spotted near the Luhansk border guard unit headquarters, located on the outskirts of Luhansk, on Tuesday.
"This may indicate that a new assault is being prepared. The Luhansk unit is now reinforcing its territories and gun positions," Ukraine's State Border Guard Service said on Tuesday.
The State Border Guard Service can currently confirm that eight of its soldiers were injured in a gun battle that erupted near the Luhansk border guard unit headquarters early on June 2.
It is not yet known exactly how many attackers were killed or injured.
Militiamen left its positions near the headquarters of the Luhansk border guard unit on Monday evening.
"There was a certain lull. However, sporadic sniper fire could be heard," the border guard service said.
Fighter jets were even sent to help the border guards repel the local militia's attack on Monday.
