Ukraine PM admits possible "deviation" from $268.5 gas price after talks with Russia
KYIV. June 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine insists on keeping the price of $268.5 per 1,000 cubic meters of Russian natural gas, but it is prepared to agree to a certain increase of this price as part of a possible compromise to be reached with Russia, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.
"It [the gas price] may deviate somewhat from the price of $268.5," he said in parliament on Tuesday.
Yatsenyuk, however, declined to say exactly how the new figure could differ from today's price, saying that his remarks may influence the ongoing trilateral talks.
Yatsenyuk reaffirmed Kyiv's readiness to file a lawsuit with the Stockholm International Arbitration Court, should the ongoing trilateral negotiations involving the European Union fail.
Russia, for its part, insists on raising the price it charges Ukraine for natural gas to $485 per 1,000 cubic meters starting from April 1.
