Over 7,000 refugees from southeastern Ukraine arrive to Rostov region in past 24 hours - Astakhov

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Russia's Rostov region took over 7,000 refugees from southeastern Ukraine in the past 24 hours, Russian children's rights commissioner Pavel Astakhov said.

"In the past 24 hours a record number of Ukrainian citizens, over 7,000 [people], entered the Rostov region. The number of refugees is growing every day," Astakhov twitted.

An infant who needs medical assistance is expected in Rostov-on-Don from Slovyansk blocked, Astakhov said. "We are trying to take 8-month baby Zhehencka Y. from Slovyansk hospital to Rostov. All services are ready to take him," he said.
