Nine militiamen killed near Slovyansk in past 24 hours - DPR representative

DONETSK. June 4 (Interfax) - Casualties among militiamen have amounted to nine killed and 15 injured during fighting near Slovyansk over the past 24 hours, said Oleksandr Borodai, the prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

At the same time, the militiamen shot down one aircraft and one helicopter of the Ukrainian government forces participating in attacks on Slovyansk, Borodai said.

"In Slovyansk, one aircraft and one helicopter have been shot down, nine people killed and around 15 injured. The shooting continues," Borodai said at a briefing in Donetsk on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the government security operation, Vladislav Seleznyov, said earlier that according to the Ukrainian data, 300 militia fighters have been killed over the past 24 hours.

A day earlier forces reported to the country's acting president, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov that the north of the Donetsk region had been cleared of militia, their stronghold in Semyonovka destroyed and control regained over Krasny Liman.
