Moscow, Cairo in talks over Russian arms supply to Egypt - ambassador

MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Russia and Egypt continue talks over Russian arms supply for the Egyptian army, said this country's ambassador to Russia Mohamed El Badri.

"The two countries' defense ministries are in talks over this matter so I suggest leaving the matter aside for now," he said in an interview with Interfax.

"As they say, there is a time for everything. When certain results are achieved, they will be announced," the diplomat added.

In February 2014 media reported that arms contracts worth $2-3 bln and more were discussed during a Moscow visit by the Egyptian defense minister on February 13.

It was reported earlier that Egyptian military was planning to buy Russian air defense systems, military helicopters, Mikoyan MiG-29 fighters and anti-tank systems.
