Counter-terrorism operation underway in Dagestan's Kizlyar district

MAKHACHKALA. June 6 (Interfax) - A counter-terrorism operation is being conducted all over the territory of the Kizlyar district of Dagestan in Russia's North Caucasus, an operation spokesman told Interfax.

"Search operations are being carried out across the entire district to track down and neutralize gang members and their accomplices," he said.

A gang member was killed and a police officer was injured in an exchange of fire between the villages of Pervokizlyarskoye, Kosyakino and Kuznetsovka of the Kizlyar district early on June 4.

Dagestan's law enforcement agencies told Interfax that another militant had been killed in the Kizlyar district early on Friday morning.
