Putin, Obama speak in Normandy, favor soonest end of violence in Ukraine - Kremlin spokesman

OUISTREHAM (Normandy, France). June 6 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin had a brief conversation with U.S. President Barack Obama on the sidelines of ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"While there was no separate meeting, the two heads of state had the chance to exchange opinions on the situation in Ukraine and the crisis in the eastern part of this country. Putin and Obama spoke in favor of the soonest possible end of violence and military activities," Peskov said.
