Georgia not recognizing parliamentary elections in South Ossetia

TBILISI. June 9 (Interfax) - The parliamentary elections held in South Ossetia are illegitimate and violate fundamental international law principles, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"The so-called parliamentary elections held in the Tskhinval region occupied on June 8, 2014 are illegitimate and they disrespect and neglect fundamental international law principles," the document said.

International community should give a relevant assessment to this "illegitimate act," the Foreign Ministry said.
