Two Tu-22M3 bombers hold missile drills with Black Sea Fleet
MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax-AVN) - An air strike force consisting of two Tupolev Tu-22M3 bombers of the Russian Long-Range Aviation forces, along with forces from the Black Sea Fleet, practiced carrying out a missile strike against simulated targets in the Black Sea, a regional military source told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
"Having flown over from the Engels airfield (Saratov region), the two long-range Tu-22M3 bombers practiced carrying out a missile strike against a group of enemy ships in the Black Sea," the source said.
"During a military training drill involving the monitoring of the situation in the air and on the sea, an Antonov An-50 airborne early warning aircraft was used, accompanied by Sukhoi Su-27 fighters," the source said.
"In sync with the Long-Range Aviation aircraft, an airstrike against a simulated surface target was practiced by Su-24 naval aviation bombers, as well as the air striking force of the two missile ships and the operators of the Bastion coastal defense missile system of the Black Sea Fleet," the source said.
