Russia hopes that Germany, Poland will follow their national interests if issue of economic sanctions against Russia is raised - Titov
MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Russia said the new economic sanctions, if adopted by the European Union, will not make Russia reconsider its position on Crimea and is calling on Germany and Poland to be guided by their national interests if the issue of economic sanctions against Russia is raised.
"As far as anti-Russian sanctions are concerned, I can only repeat that they will not make Russia reconsider its position on Crimea or change its attitude to what is going on in Ukraine, and, most importantly, they will not help joint search for ways of out of the current situation," Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov said in an interview with Interfax before the informal meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia, Germany, and Poland in St. Petersburg, which is scheduled for Tuesday.
"We are hoping that Germany and Poland, which have diverse ties with our country, understand the importance of preserving them better than others and will act in accordance with their national interests," he said.
