LPR leaders close Luhansk airport as military operation step up in region
LUHANSK. June 9 (Interfax) - The authorities of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic have decided to close the airport in Luhansk.
"By 5 p.m. it had been decided to close the airport and ban flights to and from the airport," the LPR press office told Interfax on Monday.
"A decree was signed to discontinue regular passenger and charter flights to and from the airport due to the Ukrainian troops intensifying their activity on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic," the statement said.
"Should the Kyiv authorities try to land some aircraft at the airport, relevant measures will be taken," the press office said.
