Izvarino checkpoint resumes work - "Luhansk People's Republic"
LUHANSK. June 10 (Interfax) - The press service of the self-declared Luhansk People's Republic said on Tuesday that the Izvarino border checkpoint is working in an orderly manner.
"Ukrainian border guards are performing their duties at this checkpoint now. People are crossing the border easily," the press service told Interfax.
It said several militiamen have been deployed at the checkpoint.
Ukrainian border guards earlier left the Izvarino checkpoint.
"Ukrainian border guards initially left the checkpoint, but then returned and continued performing their duties," a Luhansk People's Republic spokesman said.
The Ukrainian State Border Service's spokesman Oleh Slobodyan told Interfax, meanwhile, that "the Izvarino border checkpoint in the Luhansk region is working as usual and it has never been closed."
Ukrainian border guards control the checkpoint on their own now, he said.
