Puchkov: Almost 4 bln rubles allotted to Siberian flood victims

MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - The Russian government has allotted 3.75 billion rubles to Siberian flood victims.

"A Russian government decision has been drawn up to assist flood victims. The government reserve fund for the prevention and cleanup of emergency situations has allocated 3.75 billion rubles from the federal budget to help the flood-ridden areas," Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov said a meeting chaired by the Russian president.

Communication networks are operating steadily and roads are being restored in the flood zone, Puchkov said. Mobile teams of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being and the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance are monitoring epidemiological conditions in the region.

"The joint efforts of the authorities and regional emergency situations forces rapidly stabilized the situation in the flood zone and protected the life and health of citizens," the minister continued.

Repair works are being done in full, he said.

"According to our estimates, the floods have affected over 66,000 people. Appraisal teams are operating in the flood zone together with local self-government bodies and volunteers to assess the condition of every household plot and every social and other facility," Puchkov said, adding that the number would continue to be updated.
