Russia qualifies to build NPP in Argentina
MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Russia has qualified to build a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Argentina, the deputy director of Russian State Nuclear Energy Company Rosatom, Kirill Komarov, told journalists.
He also said that Rosatom still had an interest in participating in Brazil's nuclear program, though a key question is the decision of the Brazilian government for an NPP development model.
Rosatom CEO Sergei Kiriyenko has said the company was interested in having a presence on nuclear energy markets in the Latin American region, in particular, in countries such as Brazil and Argentina, which already have experience in commissioning nuclear facilities.
"We are working actively in Latin American countries. For us, this is a very interesting region. They have been talking about deploying a new program for developing nuclear energy, but such decisions have not yet been made," he said.
