Ruble gains against dollar, euro for fifth straight day
MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - The ruble gained against the dollar and euro on the Moscow Exchange for a fifth straight day on Tuesday amid declining geopolitical risk.
The dollar was down 7.35 kopecks to 34.2665 rubles/$1 as of 7:00 p.m. on the Moscow Exchange and the euro was down 20.55 kopecks to 46.4525 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket fell 13.3 kopecks to 39.75 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for Wednesday by 3.78 kopecks to 34.3681 rubles/$1 and lowered its euro rate by 14.77 kopecks to 46.7269 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged up 4.25 kopecks to 34.3634 rubles/$1 in Today deals and up 3.33 kopecks to 34.3655 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $4.706 billion, including $1.669 billion Today and $3.037 billion Tom.
The euro was down 16.61 kopecks to 46.6443 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and down 15.27 kopecks to 46.6055 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR623 million, including EUR284 million Today and EUR339 million Tom.
The MosPrime Rate for overnight credits rose 2 basis points to 8.47%.
