At least 210, including 14 children, killed during antiterrorist operation in eastern Ukraine - health minister
KYIV. June 11 (Interfax) - The bodies of 210 people, including 14 children, have been delivered to morgues in eastern Ukraine over the period of the military operation ongoing there, Ukrainian Health Minister Oleh Musiy said.
"The overall number of those killed is 210 people over the period of the antiterrorist operation. These are those delivered to morgues," Musiy told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"Fourteen children, that is, those younger than 18, have been killed over the time of the antiterrorist operation," he said.
The bodies of 50 people were delivered to morgues in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions on Tuesday alone, he said.
The minister did not specify how many casualties were incurred by the security forces, the 'militia', and civilians.
Musiy also could not specify whether these people died from injuries or other causes, saying that this information had come from the Emergency Medical Aid Center.
Meanwhile, the Donbas News web publication reports different data with reference to a report by the Health Ministry based on information from emergency medical services in the Donetsk region, saying that 220 people, including two younger than 18, have been killed in the Donetsk region since the beginning of the armed standoff.
Over 1,200 people sought medical advice from April 15 to June 11, 2014, and 150 of them, including a 14-year-old teenager, are still receiving inpatient treatment.
In the Luhansk region, 37 people have been killed and 137 injured since the beginning of the standoff. Forty people, including a teenager, remain in hospitals.
