Lavrov tells Deshchytsa of importance of humanitarian aid for southeast Ukrainians
MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - A telephone conversation between the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Andrey Deshchytsa, respectively, was held on Friday.
"The Russian side confirmed its principled position that the Ukrainian security operation in East Ukraine must end immediately, as envisaged by the provisions of the Geneva Statement of April 17, 2014, as well as the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) roadmap for resolving the Ukrainian conflict," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.
"(Lavrov) stressed the importance of providing humanitarian aid to residents of the South-East Ukraine, creating proper conditions for the safe removal refugees from the region into the Russian Federation," the ministry said.
"In this context, it was particularly stressed that special attention and care must be shown towards the children living in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the statement said.
