Lavrov urges West to reign in Ukrainian radicals
MINSK. June 16 (Interfax) - Moscow is expecting Western partners to take action to reign in radicals and extremists in Ukraine, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"The task of reigning in the ultra-radicals, extremists and neo-Nazis requires particular attention on the part of international community, those who directly influence the Kyiv authorities. We hope reason will prevail and all those capable of impacting on the situation will work not towards escalating but steering it into a political stream," Lavrov told a press conference after his visit to Minsk on Monday.
A response to the situation is also needed in light of the recent events, "the ghastly attack on the Russian embassy," he said.
Lavrov reiterated the need for an immediate end to the security operation in southeast Ukraine and a durable ceasefire.
