Specialized Russian investigative department for Ukraine will continue to work until all those guilty are prosecuted - Bastrykin

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - The department established by the Russian Investigative Committee to look into crimes of "an international nature" will continue to function until all Ukrainian soldiers and other persons standing behind crimes against the civilian population are brought to justice, committee chairman Alexander Bastrykin said.

"The recently formed department will continue to work until all Ukrainian servicemen and persons who have committed crimes against peaceful citizens face criminal prosecution," Bastrykin said in an interview published in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper on Tuesday.

All branches of the Russian Investigative Committee located in regions that are now witnessing the influx of refugees from Ukraine will take part in this department's work, he said.

Apart from the criminal case opened against Ukrainian ultra-nationalistic Right Sector leader Dmytro Yarosh, Russia's Investigative Committee is handling a number of inquiries that center on potential crimes committed against Ukrainian and Russian citizens in Ukraine, he said.

"In particular, criminal investigations are underway against UNA-UNSO members Mazur, Bobrovych, Korchynsky, the Tyahnybok brothers and Mamalyha, as well as into injuries sustained by the Russia Today TV station's Russian journalist in Ukraine," Bastrykin said.
