EU transfers EUR500 mln in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine

BRUSSELS. June 17 (Interfax) - The European Commission on Tuesday transferred a tranche of 500 million euros of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine, a representative of the European Commission, Simon O'Connor, told a briefing in Brussels.

On June 10, 2014, the European Commission borrowed 500 million euros on the market, placing Eurobonds to provide macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.

The total sum of the assistance will amount to 1.61 billion euros.

On May 20, 2014, the European Commission transferred 100 million euros under the program.
