Water supply cut off to four localities in Donetsk region
KYIV. June 17 (Interfax) - The damage done to the electricity substations which are feeding pumps have led to cuts in water supplies to Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka and Dzerzhinsk in the Donetsk region, the DTEK Donetskoblenergo electricity marketing company said in a statement.
"The 110 kilowatt substation Sotshorod, and the 35 kilowatt Belenkaya and Trety Podyom substations were damaged in intensive combat operations in Kramatorsk on June 16. This paralyzed the pumping station of the 2nd Donetsk water services company, leaving Kramatorsk, Druzhkovka, Konstantynovka and Dzerzhinsk without water," it says.
Electricity supplies have been cut to a filtering station, the building of the city administration, a pediatric hospital, a trauma clinic and a burn hospital in Kramatorsk.
Donetskoblenergo is working to re-launch electricity supplies to medical establishments using reserve capacities.
"Experts examined one of the paralyzed substations and found out that it had been damaged by shell fragments," it said.
Repair teams are ready to restore energy supplies if safe access to the damaged systems is guaranteed, which is impossible for now amid fighting in the Slovyansk and Kramatorsk regions, Donetskoblenergo said.
