Ukrainian Foreign Ministry advises West to tighten sanctions against Russia

KYIV. June 17 (Interfax) - Western countries should apply a third sanctions package regarding Russia, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

"In this case we think that harsh measures in the form of sanctions - the third stage of which was announced for a while by the United States and the European Union - should follow after Russia's recent actions," Ukrainian Foreign Minister information policy department director Yevhen Perebyinis said.

It is evident that Russia does not intend to assist situational de-escalation in Ukraine, he said.

"From our point of view, nothing can be expected from Russia. It [Russia] made it perfectly clear that it does not intend to stop such activities and, in our point of view, the only thing that could affect Russia is harsher sanctions in the third package, in other words related to sector aspects," Perebyinis said.
