Turkey worried by possible Ukrainian gas transit crisis - Novak

MOSCOW. June 19 (Interfax) - Turkey, which receives around 14 billion cubic meters of Russian gas a year via Ukraine, has expressed its concerns about the risk of a transit crisis, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told a press conference.

Novak said he had met Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, who had aired his concerns over Ukraine's failure to pay its debt for Russian gas and the risks that could rise with respect to the transit of Russian gas to Turkey.

Novak said Russia and Turkey had not discussed the possible construction of the South Stream pipeline via Turkey in the even Bulgaria refuses to allow it to be routed across its territory.
