Army to protect border with Ukraine in numbers required to tighten security - Peskov

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The protection of the Russian border with Ukraine will now involve the Armed Forces whose numbers are determined by the necessity to ensure tighter security control on the national border, Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Given the situation in the east (of Ukraine), the tightening of Russian border security requires certain measures. The armed forces are being called in," Peskov said on the Rossiya 24 television channel.

The armed forces are being engaged "in numbers necessary to increase border security," the president's press secretary said.
