Self-proclaimed militia in Donbas does not believe Poroshenko's security guarantees
DONETSK. June 20 (Interfax) - Members of the militia in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic do not believe in security guarantees offered on Friday by the Ukrainian government, as none of their representatives took part in negotiations with President Petro Poroshenko.
"Poroshenko's negotiations with the so-called Donbas elite took place in Kyiv yesterday in the absence of leaders of the [self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic and Donetsk People's Republic]. None of our representatives attended them, and so what security guarantees to participants in the negotiations are we talking about?" a source from the Donbas militia headquarters told Interfax on Friday.
Poroshenko presented his 15-clause peace plan for eastern Ukraine earlier on Friday.
In particular, the plan posted on the presidential website on Friday envisions security guarantees for all participants in negotiations, an exemption from criminal liability for all those who did not commit serious crimes and who lay down their arms, and the freeing of hostages.
