Ukrainian border put under defense regulations - National Security and Defense Council
KYIV. June 21 (Interfax) - An operation on establishing the defense regime along the eastern border of Ukraine has been completed, and the president has ordered establishing control over it, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council spokesman Volodymyr Chepovy said.
"The president received a report from Lt. Gen. Viktor Muzhenko yesterday that the operation on establishing the defense regime at the border was completed at 6:30 p.m. on June 20. The president ordered switching to the next phase of the peace plan, that is, the establishment of control over the state border," Chepovy said at a news conference on Saturday.
He called on everyone to join the presidential peace plan and observe a ceasefire.
The Ukrainian border service reported that, during the first night after the declaration of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian government forces, militia units attacked 4 Ukrainian border units and injured 9 border guards, three of them seriously.
