Ukrainian refugees are flown to different regions of Russia
MOSCOW/VOLGOGRAD/ASTRAKHAN. June 23 (Interfax) - Refugees from the southeastern regions of Ukraine are flown from the Rostov region and Crimea to other regions of Russia in Russian Emergency Situations Ministry planes.
" Emergency Situations Ministry planes carrying refugees from Ukraine will leave Rostov-on-Don and Simferopol for Voronezh and Lipetsk in the nearest future," Russian Emergency Situations Ministry official Alexander Drobyshevsky told Interfax.
Some 200 people are expected to be taken to those regions.
Over 18,000 refugees from Ukraine are in the seven regions located near the border and over 11,200 are in temporary accommodation facilities. Most refugees are now located in the Rostov region and Crimea.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is flying refugees to other regions, where temporary accommodation facilities have been prepared for them. Over 200 temporary accommodation facilities have been created in Russia.
Specifically, a Mi-8 helicopter carrying refugees from Ukraine has landed at the Volgograd airport, the press service for the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Main Department for the region told Interfax. "The plane is carrying 17 people, including three children. They are accommodated at a tourist base in the city of Volzhsky," the source said.
A total of 106 refugees from Ukraine were earlier brought to the Volgograd region. Besides the refugees brought form southeastern Ukraine, there are another 34 Ukrainians in the Volgograd region who were able to leave the war zone without anyone's assistance.
A Russian Emergency Situations Ministry plane carrying refugees is expected to arrive in Astrakhan from Rostov-on-Don. "An Emergency Situations Ministry plane will bring 15 refugees from Ukraine from the Rostov region to Astrakhan. They will be temporarily accommodated in the rehabilitation center Rus, where they will receive humanitarian assistance," the press service for the Astrakhan region's governor reported on Sunday.
Two busses carrying over 100 women and children from Ukraine are expected to leave the Rostov region for Astrakhan on Monday. Accommodation spaces have been prepared for them in the local health retreat Astrakhanskiye Zori.
Over 400 refugees from Ukraine, mainly residents of the Luhansk region, have turned to the Astrakhan region for assistance since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine.
