Over 3,000 citizens of Ukraine seek medical assistance in Russia - Russian health minister

ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 23 (Interfax) - Over 3,000 Ukrainians, of which half are children, have recently sought medical assistance in Russia, Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova told reporters on Monday.

"A total of 221 citizens of Ukraine are now being treated in Russian hospitals. In addition, 180 pregnant women have sought medical assistance. Thirteen children have been born to Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Russia," Skvortsova said during a visit to the refugee camp Dmitriadovsky in the Rostov region.

According to the Rostov region's Health Ministry, some 1,500 people, including 656 children and fifty pregnant women, have sought medical assistance in the region, 121 people have been hospitalized, and 65 citizens of Ukraine are being treated in hospital. Over 5,000 people, including over 2,000 children and fifty pregnant women, are in temporary accommodation facilities.

Nineteen people wounded in the fighting in Ukraine are receiving treatment in the Rostov region's medical establishments, Skvortsova said.

"People with military related wounds have been operated on by surgeons, trauma specialists and neurosurgeons. Five of the people who I have visited in hospitals today are successfully recovering," the minister said.

According to the Rostov region's Health Ministry, of the 19 people hospitalized with military wounds nine are in a military hospital and the rest are being treated in municipal hospitals.
