Army, navy to be 30% re-armed with modern weapons in 2014 - Rogozin

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - By 2015, a third of the Russian army and navy will be re-armed, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

"By 2015 we must get 30% of the army and navy re-armed with modern models. Hence the increase in funding in general," Rogozin said at Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's meeting with officials on Monday.

He said re-armament figures have been rising. "Already we are switching from prototypes to serially-produced weapons and military hardware," the deputy prime minister said.
