Federation Council resolution revoking authorization of military involvement in Ukraine takes effect immediately - committee head

MOSCOW. June 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Federation Council's resolution revoking its consent it granted to the president on March 1 to use the Russian armed forces on Ukrainian territory takes effect immediately after its adoption, Viktor Ozerov, the head of the Federation Council defense and security committee, said at the Federation Council session on Wednesday.

This decision is "a goodwill gesture" aimed at intensifying the negotiating process, he said.

"This decision will cut the ground from under the feet of those negotiators who are trying to cash in on our resolution," he said.
