Morale is on the rise in Russian army - Shoigu

KHABAROVSK. June 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry this year has managed to achieve the highest morale in the army since the 1990s, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"The results of sociological studies have shown that the morale in the Russian army in 2014 is the highest in the past 17 years," Shoigu said at a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry collegium on Wednesday.

According to VTsIOM, people's support of the measures taken to ensure the military security of the state is increasing. Most citizens believe the prestige of the Armed Forces has increased and military service has become more attractive, Shoigu said.

The minister also said that practically all types of violations were reduced in the army in 2013.
