New roadblocks to be set up between Kharkiv, Luhansk regions - official

KHARKIV. June 25 (Interfax) - New roadblocks will be set up at the administrative border between the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions by the end of next week, the Kharkiv regional administration said quoting its deputy head Vasyl Khoma as saying.

Visiting the Kupyansk district along with officials from the Security Service, the Interior Ministry, and the Kharkiv border department to inspect territories bordering the Luhansk region, Khoma said: "We have carried out this observation inspection to determine where stationary, basic, and mobile roadblocks will be located."

He said additional roadblocks are necessary to bar people who could destabilize the situation in the Kharkiv region from entering it from the Luhansk region.

"The separatists have rejected the peace initiative proposed by President Poroshenko. Over three dozen attacks on roadblocks have been committed over the three days of the truce, there has been gunfire, and some people have been killed or injured. We should be prepared for the separatists to not lay down their arms and to continue fighting," he said.
