Poroshenko accuses Russia of not rendering enough support for Ukraine peace plan

KYIV. June 26 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says Russia has not contributed enough support to the implementation of his peace plan for southeastern Ukraine.

"It is obvious that this peace plan will start working only with Russia's support. Unfortunately, Russia is not rendering enough of such support so far," Poroshenko said at a PACE session in Strasbourg on Thursday.

Armed confrontation in eastern Ukraine is continuing now, and "new fighters are entering Ukrainian territory from the Russian side," he said.

"President Putin expressed support for the peace plan during our telephone conversation with [German] Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande yesterday. Now we are waiting for real steps," he said.

Poroshenko urged Russia to contribute to the settlement of the crisis in eastern Ukraine. "Support the peace plan by actions rather than words, because, through such actions, we would stop the deaths of civilian and military people who are defending the state's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We are waiting for such actions," Poroshenko said.
