Gas turbines for naval ships to be manufactured in Russia for import substitution - industry and trade minister

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - Plants in Rybinsk and St. Petersburg will begin manufacturing gas turbine engines for Russian naval ships under the import substitution program, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said.

"We are 100% dependent [on import] for gas turbine engines for our frigates, corvettes and patrol ships. For this reason, this object is clearly reflected in the import substitution program," Manturov told a briefing in Moscow.

The engines will be manufactured by the Saturn plant in Rybinsk and the speed reduction gear will be manufactured at St. Petersburg's Zvezda.
