Gazprom may bid for 24.9% stake in Austrian OMV - newspaper

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - Gazprom might purchase a 24.9% stake in Austrian energy concern OMV from International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) in Abu Dhabi, a lawmaker with Austria's Green Party, Peter Pilz, said in the newspaper Kurier.

"We have concrete evidence that Abu Dhabi wants to sell and Gazprom is ready to buy OMV," Pilz said.

IPIC is not happy with OMV's development. The Austrian government might be interested in buying the stake, but it doesn't have the money, he said.

Pilz plans to submit a parliamentary query on the matter to the government.
