Russia drafts UN SC statement urging not to buy oil from Iraqi territories seized by militants - Lavrov

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Russia is drafting a statement from the UN Security Council urging international community not to buy oil from Iraqi territories, which are being controlled by militants, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"In due time we have passed in the Security Council a relevant resolution on Libya, which urged against buying oil from the territories which are controlled by non-government troops," Lavrov said at a news conference in Moscow.

"Now we are drafting in the Security Council a statement of the chairperson - the same document regarding Iraqi oil extracted at territories seized by terrorist groups, including by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group," he said.
