Iran will not send its troops to Iraq, but ready to deliver weapons - Iranian deputy foreign minister

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Iran has no intention of sending its soldiers to Iraq, but it is ready to deliver weapons to that country, should such a need arise, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"We have no plans to send our servicemen to Iraq. Iraq has strong armed forces and powerful military hardware. Iraq has not requested deliveries of weapons from our country," he said.

However, "if such a request is received, required weapons will be provided in accordance with international rules and existing agreements in order to wage an effective fight against terrorism," the deputy minister said.
