Representatives of Russia, EU to hold phone talks on South Stream, gas injection Friday

VLADIKAVKAZ. July 1 (Interfax) - European Union Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger has suggested holding two-sided telephone talks with Russia on Friday, during which the two will discuss issues connected with the South Stream project and gas injection to underground storage facilities.

"We received a request from Oettinger to hold a two-sided telephone conversation Friday," Energy Minister Alexander Novak told journalists. He said Russia would participate in the conversation, during which issues with the South Stream pipeline project and gas injection would be discussed.

Novak added that this also concerned issues with supplying gas to European consumers.

"We are generally ready to continue a dialogue with the EU," he said.
