Kyrgyz speaker sees no reasons to change government
BISHKEK. July 2 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz parliamentary speaker Asylbek Zheenbekov sees no reasons for changing the Cabinet of ministers at the present time.
"There will always be criticism in the government's address, but it's still a little bit too early to assess it, and so let's wait," Zheenbekov told journalists on Wednesday.
The government led by Prime Minister Dzhoomart Otorbayev has not yet even served 100 days and has not had the chance to fully realize its potential, he said.
"We hope that the government will make important decisions within the next two months [before a new parliamentary session in September] and will show its worth," he said.
The current Kyrgyz government was put together in early April 2014. It has been harshly criticized by both members of the parliamentary majority and the opposition for failing to solve a number of pressing issues, among them the conclusion of a new agreement on the development of the high-altitude Kumtor gold ore mine.
