Polish and German Consulates may be moved from Donetsk to Mariupol

KYIV. July 4 (Interfax) - Donetsk Region Governor Serhiy Taruta has proposed transferring the Polish and German Consulates from Donetsk to Mariupol.

Taruta believes that such a step will send a clear signal to European companies that they should invest in Mariupol because it is a peaceful and safe city, the press service of the Donetsk region administration has said.

At a recent meeting with the Mariupol authorities and local business people, Taruta announced plans to establish an agency for the restoration of Donbas and a specialized fund to rebuild local infrastructure destroyed during the armed conflict.

"Taruta noted that Ilyich and Azovstal Iron and Steel Works of the Metinvest Holding have already given a start to this process in Mariupol by pledging to help restore a number of buildings, including the city's police department, one of the buildings of Pre-Azov State Technical University and the city legislature building, which was destroyed by fire," the press service said.
